Ortiva was founded in 2004 and is based in La Jolla, California. The company's Leadership team includes:


Marc Zionts – CEO
Zionts has more than twenty years of executive and entrepreneurial experience focused on emerging technology in high-growth markets. Prior to joining Ortiva, he was CEO at FastMobile (sold to Research in Motion). Zionts was also the CEO of Cantata Technology (sold to Dialogic) and Westell Technologies. As founder and Executive Vice President of Communicate Direct, Inc., he led the company's sale to SoftNet Systems. Zionts began his career with GTE and Fujitsu/GTE Business Systems, serving in various sales and marketing roles. He earned his MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology.


Dr. Sujit Dey – Founder and Chief Technologist
Dr. Dey has twenty years of experience in research, technology, and product development in wireless networks, wireless multimedia, systems, circuits, and design tools. He founded Ortiva Wireless in 2004 based on innovative technologies developed at the University of California, San Diego, where he is a professor and heads the Mobile Systems Design and Test Laboratory. Dr. Dey served in leadership roles at Zyray Wireless, ST Microelectronics and NEC USA. He holds 11 patents and has published more than a 150 papers in technical journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Dey holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University.


James D. Edson - Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Edson has thirty years of experience leading world-class sales organizations in providing sophisticated and complex technology solutions. Prior to joining Ortiva, Edson was Senior Vice President of Business Development for SCANBUY, a leader in visual navigation solutions. In addition, Edson has international experience having served in senior managment roles with PacketVideo, Ericsson, Qualcomm, and Motorola. He has a BA in Political Science from American University and an MBA from Northwestern University.

 


Faisal Mushtaq – Vice President, Engineering
Mushtaq leads Ortiva's global product development efforts with teams in the U.S. and India. He has over fifteen years of technical management experience in networking, telecommunications, and building high performance, carrier-grade systems. Prior to joining Ortiva, he was with Wichorus where he played a key role in the development of high performance 4G platforms for WiMAX and LTE. At Cisco Systems, he helped architect and develop several routing/switching product families and was a primary architect of the Virtual Switching System (VSS) for the Catalyst 6500 platform. He received an MSEE from Purdue University and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He holds 4 patents and has several pending.


Debashis Panigrahi– Chief Software Architect
Pani is a member of the founding team at Ortiva Wireless. He has ten years of experience in research, development, and product realization of wireless network and multimedia technologies. Before Ortiva, Pani was with Synopsys and VeriFone. He has published more than 25 papers in technical journals and conference proceedings. He holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Kharagphur, and an M.S./C.Phil. in Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.


Ronald Garrison – Vice President, Product Management
Garrison has more than twenty years experience in telecommunications product development and product management. Prior to joining Ortiva he was director of Product Management at FiberTower and Ciena. He also served in product development roles at DSC Communications (purchased by Alcatel), Equatorial Communications, and Harris Corporation. He holds a BSBA from University of Phoenix.


Troy Noll – Vice President, Finance & Administration
Noll has over ten years of experience in high growth software start-ups and joins Ortiva from Fastmobile (sold to Research In Motion) where he served as Controller. Prior to Fastmobile, he was VP, Controller for Vista Software Solutions (sold to JDA Software). He holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.


Aaron Nowlan Vice President, Quality & Customer Service
Nowlan has supported carrier customers through trial and deployment globally. Prior to joining Ortiva, he was Tech Support Manager with Excel Switching Corporation (a Dialogic company) and held various support roles at Cantata Technology and Lucent Technologies. He earned a BSEE degree from the University of Massachusetts.
